A one of a kind table
Christchurch couple Sue and Rob Webster were in America when they first saw a table that captured their hearts. After they returned home from their travels, they wondered whether it was possible to recreate it.
Owning a veneer and melamine board manufacturing business, Sue and Rob knew of Slade through the Christchurch trade industry. They knew the table could be made, it was just a matter of who could do it well.
“Sue and I were very impressed with Stu’s ability to interpret what we were trying to achieve from a few magazine pictures and very scant drawings,” Rob says.
“He applied his practical knowledge as to what needed to be done in terms of design and structure, to come up with the right outcome. We found the team at Slade friendly and accommodating, and just a pleasure to work with.”
“It was the colour that drew us to the table [in America],” Sue adds.
“Stu was wonderful at coming up with the right colour because we didn’t want it to be a steel colour, but a brassy colour. He did a few test runs with us, because we really wanted to see that level of detail.”
Over the moon with the finished product, Sue and Rob paired their brassy table base with a walnut wooden top. The folded steel corners complete the dramatic look.
